This page has been really difficult for me. Not because I don't have a vision, but because I don't know quite how to put it in words. Let me try...

Right now my main focus is to teach my boys right and wrong, empathy, responsibility, sensitivity, and the ability to make wise choices. I believe that stressing academics at this point is fruitless. I don't do any "structured" school time yet my boys are coming along quite fine academically without the huge focus. I try and teach everything with the spirit, hoping that each lesson has a restoration basis. It is hard for someone who grew up in public schools, with a public school mentality, to grasp the concept of a true restoration based education. All the great prophets in the Book of Mormon were raised that way, and most of them began formal schooling at the age of 10 yet were leaders by the age of 16. I believe it is because their wise parents concentrated on the important things in the early years of youth and left the inconsequential things like math and science for later years. My goal is to raise moral, just, and spiritually grounded sons. PERIOD end of sentence. What level of math they get to or wether they go to college really isn't important to me. I also feel that by raising my boys this way, they will be inspired to continue education from their own inner voice. You may or may not agree with this statement and I don't think I have it down as clearly as I would like, but here is my vision in a nut shell.

Sincerely

Tamra
